Kira Powell is a director, writer and actor based in Los Angeles. Her stories are told and shaped through her unique experiences as a first generation multi-racial Black and Latina woman from Boston, MA. She started her career as a SAG-AFTRA actor, appearing in dozens of national commercials throughout her career, including a comedic campaign for JIF, which was highlighted by Adweek as one of the top ads of 2019.

She was cast in the 2018 sci-fi/horror film, THE ENDLESS, directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Moon Knight, Archive 81). THE ENDLESS debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it received a nomination for best narrative feature film. Kira’s performance was highlighted by many critics, including RogerEbert.com.

In 2021, Kira wrote, directed and starred in a one-woman show, CAUGHT IN THE MIX, which was one of the select few Hollywood Fringe diversity scholarship winners, and had its world premiere at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in August of 2021. CAUGHT IN THE MIX went on to win multiple awards and was selected to be a part of prestigious festivals including the Los Angeles Women’s Theater Festival and off-Broadway’s United Solo Festival in New York.

Her most recent short film, THE GOOD MOTHER, which she wrote, directed and executive produced, screened at the 2023 Screamfest Horror Film Festival. She has a B.A. in Mass Communication and is currently attending the American Film Institute for her MFA in Directing.
